New, irreverent golf show launching on HWC for April broadband launch

It’s the great equalizer. No matter how good you are, you’re not good enough never to hit a stinker of a shot. That’s why golf is such a wonderful and addictive sport. It’s also why celebrities with competitive instincts play it. HWC is pleased to announce their new show called PLAYING THROUGH WITH JEFF AND DREW that combines the sheer beauty of walking a golf course with the insight that comes with walking a golf course with someone of interest, told with the aid of Golfweek Senior Writer Jeff Rude. Whether from the world of sports, entertainment, or politics, PLAYING THROUGH WITH JEFF AND DREW will bring you insight into the world of the famous with an infusion from the world of amateur and professional golf. Each episode will be comprised of two parts- the first part will be Jeff and Drew playing the first nine holes of a distinguished golf course in an attractive setting, with Drew 'interviewing' Jeff about the goings-on in the world of golf, and the second half will focus on Jeff and Drew teaming up with a celebrity at the turn, where they will play 9 holes with (predominantly) Jeff conducting a 'playing interview' with the noted playing-guest. The show will end with a lucky winner's question being chosen for the celebrity that week, which wins the questioner a prize from HWC.
Twenty episodes will be produced and will launch when HWC launches on broadband on April 11, 2016.
ABOUT JEFF RUDE
Winner of numerous national writing awards, Jeff Rude has spent the past 19 years as a Senior Writer for Golfweek. He is known for his back-page column, playful look at the game, strong takes, and stories about all aspects of the PGA Tour. He also was a regular panelist on the Golf Channel’s “Grey Goose 19th Hole,” a topics show, for three years, and hosted the BACK9 Channel's The Club House show for it's entire run. Prior to Golfweek, Rude was the national golf writer for the Dallas Morning News for four years. He worked for daily newspapers for 20 years after graduating from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. He went to Missouri on an Evans Scholarship, awarded to deserving golf course caddies. While in college, he caddied on the PGA Tour, calling it the best summer job anybody could ever have.
Jeff has been a multimedia storyteller for years, but he feels lucky, not old. Here’s lucky: He has interviewed every big name in golf from Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson to Jordan Spieth. He has covered 81 consecutive major championships and almost 100 total. He has been to the Masters and the Players Championship in five different decades, and figures he may have written more columns about Tiger Woods than any other scribe.
ABOUT DREW NEDERPELT
Drew has written about golf for Par Style magazine, Health & Wellness Monthly magazine, and specifically about one-legged golfer Ken Green and his attempt at a comeback (of which HWC is producing a docu-series to begin airing in May of 2016). He has interviewed PGA Tour players, legends, and instructors from Fred Funk to Hank Haney, Byron Nelson, Loren Roberts, Jeff Sluman, Peter Kostis, and even scratch-golfer Maury Povitch. He has caddied on the PGA Tour and in two Majors and once managed to lose $25 to singer BJ Thomas on a municipal course in Arlington, TX in the 90s. He will let Jeff Rude do all the heavy lifting.
