HWC signs deal to bring healthy shopping to 25MM cable homes beginning December 22

December 2, 2015- The Health & Wellness Channel has just signed a deal that will bring healthy home shopping to many millions of North Americans through cable television beginning December 22, 2015. The deal, which airs a version of the Health & Wellness Marketplace three hours per day on cable TV through broadcast partner MyxTV, will allow consumers to buy health, wellness, fitness and healthy lifestyle products and services through the ShopHWC marketplace as well as by phone, as seen on television, and airing online (the online launch will follow closely after the cable television launch).
“Since our inception, the aspect of health and wellness home shopping has been the one thing that has made us different from the traditional broadcaster. It’s what Dr. Oz called “brilliant” during one of our meetings and we are delighted to have found partners who believe that offering health and wellness products and services directly through what we call an ‘active-sales’ approach, is a win-win-win for everyone, especially for the rabid health and wellness consumer, which these days should be pretty much everyone,” says HWC founder Drew Nederpelt.
Nederpelt goes on to say that no one needs another passive website for consumers to rummage around on. “Relying on the shopper to educate themselves about health and wellness products in the hope that they realize they really do need magnesium, or a new piece of workout equipment, or specially formulated nutraceuticals, is frankly very 90s. We’re in the business of educating and then retailing, and we can achieve that process very efficiently with our 14-minute segments complete with skilled product specialists, industry experts and real-world testimonials,” says Nederpelt.
Nederpelt has spent the past year overseeing (and even participating in) the production of dozens of shopping segments that were to be aired on broadband beginning this past Fall but on a whim decided to reach out to an entity that he believed shared a common goal of providing cable customers the same benefits of healthy home shopping that he was about to offer online consumers.
“It was a shot in the dark, but in the end it was really a meeting of the minds- MyxTV and HWC realized there was a great opportunity to blaze a trail and each of the entities had something the other could use to increase awareness, and in the end, to increase the bottom line, which is after all a critical part of any business relationship,” says Nederpelt.
While the healthy shopping business is a different and distinct business from that of the Channel, the tenet of Life, Love, and Longevity still rules the day when deciding what products will be selected for air to the 25,000,000 cable households. “The term ‘health’ is rather specific, but ‘wellness’ allows us some leeway in what we bring into the fold for air. At the end of the day, if it’s unique, legit, and can help our viewers and our associates (Nederpelt insists that all products sold on air must also be used by their talent, employees or friends and family of the network), lead a healthier, happier life, we will absolutely consider it,” says Nederpelt, who reveals that the Health & Wellness Channel will itself also be launching in December, on broadband initially.
