HEALTH & WELLNESS CHANNEL® INTRODUCES BROADBAND CHANNEL

Health & Wellness Channel, Inc.® Is pleased to announce the development of a broadband channel to complement their cable television offerings that will put one dozen of the network’s shows on their online channel by fall 2012, with the remainder slated to join online after their initial cable airings. The shows, which are all small-screen suited content such as cooking, magazine, and prescriptive talk, with two unique reality show offerings, will be available as 5 minute gratis productions with the remainder being available behind a pay-wall for a nominal monthly subscription fee. The broadband strategy is part of the overall goal of the network as a multi-channel purveyor of all things life, love and longevity®, in the publishing, television, radio, online, retail, convention/on-site, and broadband spheres.
“In speaking to other networks and carriers, there’s a real push for the cable-heads and MSO’s to ramp up their data subscribers because that’s where the money is,” says HWC’s Vice President of TV Operations Randy Gruber. “While the development of our broadband strategy has nine accompanying rationales, one big consideration is that we can offer the carriers additional leverage and potential data customers that they might not already have in their market,” he says. The rationale of helping the carriers acquire their most lucrative customers will go a long way toward helping HWC gain favorable status with carriers in their negotiations, says Principal Drew Nederpelt. “So many times the negotiations between carriers and networks focus on ‘what-are-you-going-to-pay-me.’ With our strategy of already having a broadband presence in these markets, the conversation is much more partner-centric,” says Nederpelt.
Production off the broadband shows, which have all been selected, is slated to begin before the end of July and the first offerings are slated to begin appearing early Fall of 2012.
